Where: 25p *Lab, Naugarder Str. 45, 10409 Berlin

This 2-day workshop lets you immerse deeply into the art of color grading. Experts Susi Dollnig and Ben Packer will lead you through the theory of color appearance, color wheels and palettes. They will show and explain a lot of grading examples and share their way of starting and evolving a grade.
During the practical part you will work at tandem workstations of Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve Studio with different types of high class monitors. You’ll have the chance to set up a project from the beginning, build your grade through node trees, get to know how to use the different tools and scopes and learn everything about delivery and renders.
Furthermore there will be time for hands-on playing with control panels, specific questions or advice for your projects.
At the end of the workshop, the participants will be given a 25p *classes participant certificate.

Susi Dollnig is a freelance colorist based in Berlin and Vienna.

From 2013 to 2018 she has worked as in-house colorist at the New York post-production boutique House of Trim for documentary features, branded content and commercial clients.
She held Resolve-Workshops at the NewYork Film Academy and was mentor and program coordinator at the UP.GRADE short courses (Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie). Since 2019 Susi works as a freelancer in Germany and Austria and is represented by the post-production agency M.A.P. Management for Artists in Postproduction. As a colorist Susi has one very necessary skill perfected, so called “Sitzfleisch”- the ability to sit still for long periods of time.

Christian Eichenauer is a freelance cameraman and lecturer.

After studying to become a photo engineer, he worked for many years at SWR and WDR in various fields. Today he mainly shoots documentaries and television formats of all genres. This background gives him the confidence to cope with all adversities of filmmaking: „In case of doubt, I can get any camera to work even at -30 degrees in a tent“.

He sees technology as a tool for design and is pleased with the numerous technical and creative possibilities that modern cameras now offer. For him, however, it is important to look at the entire production chain, which is why he is also intensively involved with post production. He has a particular penchant for color grading, which brings us back to look design.

More or less by chance, Christian discovered his talent for communicating topics in a catchy way 10 years ago. Since then he has been working as a trainer at the ARD ZDF Media Academy in the areas of film design, camera and workflow. His own filming experiences, „especially the mistakes that happened“, are of great benefit to him.
